What is NET therapy?

Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) is an evidence-based approach that works at the interface of emotions, memory, and the physical body.

How does NET address emotions and physical pain?

An NET session can focus on an emotional response to a situation, such as a relationship or work issue, or test a physical structure to see if there’s an emotional component to the physical pain.

Is this the same as psychosomatic pain?

Kind of. The body stores emotions as part of a functional system that helps us concentrate and act appropriately. When this system can't contain the emotions, we feel highly vulnerable.  Stores of stress or emotion can lead to physical pain (as well as other symptoms).

How do we process emotions naturally?

The natural way we process stressful events includes some healthy forgetting but thinking about events and feeling our emotions leads to the dissipation of this energy. This often happens when we’re resting, bored, thoughtful, or reflective. Stress from events during busy times like moving country, starting a new job etc is more likely to be stored rather than process naturally.

Can stored emotions affect physical health?

Yes. Sometimes stored emotions contribute to structural issues. For example, if a store of emotion lies in a meridian that crosses an injured area, it may slow recovery. Stored emotions from past experiences can also affect our responses in relationships, driving 'over-reaction' responses.

How does NET help with emotional responses?

When stored emotion is processed we gain a clear perspective on the issue. This is for both cognitive and physiological reasons.  It’s helpful to uncover oftentimes childhood or teen memories that help explain our present day responses. And NET also reduces the physiological response - so even if we're still dealing with a stressful situation the impact in terms of physiological response will be less.   For example if encountering a person used to cause a racing heart, inability to think clearly etc following NET the situation might still be uncomfortable but the autonomic response (heart racing, panic feeling) will be gone allowing us to act and respond in a more calm conscious way.  The process itself also teaches a method of inquiry and observation, empowering you to feel more in control.

  • Managing difficult work relationships or friendships

  • Any physical pain that is slow to resolve or persistent

How are these issues treated with NET?

During a NET Therapy session at ALIGN, Jodi utilizes a variety of techniques to facilitate emotional healing and restore balance within the body. These techniques may include:

  • Neuro Emotional Technique (NET)

  • Applied kinesiology assessment for emotional and physical imbalances

  • Emotional stress assessment and treatment

  • Advising stress management strategies

By combining these approaches, Jodi creates a personalised treatment plan tailored to each client's unique needs, fostering emotional resilience and promoting overall wellness.

Will NET interfere with my counselling or psychotherapy sessions?

NET uniquely focuses on the interface between the emotions, memory and the body making it a good complementary process to support counselling or psychology sessions (or any talking therapy). One unique aspect of NET therapy is that memories can be processed in private (without being shared with the practitioner) making it a good therapy option if someone wants support without  sharing their history.
